India approves 27 new crop protection products under Section 9(3) at 464th RC Meeting

In a major development for the crop protection industry, India’s Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB&RC) has approved 27 new registrations under Section 9(3) of the Insecticides Act, 1968. The approvals, granted during the 464th Registration Committee meeting held on 30 May 2025, pave the way for the introduction of new technicals and formulations for herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides in the country.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. P.K. Singh, Agriculture Commissioner & Chairman, RC, and attended by key representatives from DPPQS, ICAR, DCGI, and CIB&RC. The decisions aim to expand weed and pest management options for Indian farmers and encourage innovation by domestic and multinational crop protection companies.

Regulatory Outlook

All approvals are subject to the fixation of Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) in respective crops before market launch. Several deferred technical applications from the same meeting may be reconsidered in the next RC session, expected in July 2025.
