The idea of Gubba Premier League took birth in 2016. It was an ideology developed by Mr. Gubba Prashant, Director, Gubba Infra Cold. Our nation’s passion and pride is cricket. To live the legacy once every year, Gubba decided to organize a week full of fun and cricket. After a hardworking year and stressing seeds season, the month of November-December seem to have a scope for relaxation.

That’s when the fest of GPL happens. The theme of GPL is seed industry oriented only. Reason being, our wish to serve our clients a space to interact and come closer together informally.

GPL – 4 dates were declared as 30-Nov-2021 to 4-Dec-2021.

A dedicated team from Gubba was allotted for making the all the arrangements. It took us 2 months of back-end work to be ready for the fest. Registrations were opened 1 and half months ago, we invited seed companies from all over India to have their employees form an official team representing their company and participate with us. Team registrations were based on first come, first serve basis.

We received 21 team registrations. However, as per the planned schedule, we could accept only 16 registrations. The teams were to submit their players list with company identity cards, covid certificates officially verified by the company HR on the letter head of the respective company. We laid out our rules and ensured that discipline remains the prime rule of this tournament.

Gubba team did a recce on the finest cricket grounds available in Hyderabad and finalized Saraswati cricket grounds, Gundlapochampalli.

A fun catchy GPL jingle was made by a famous live band in Hyderabad – “September boys”. Each team was introduced to our social media – Facebook, Linkedin, Whatsapp broadcast, Youtube and constant contact which has a cumulative reach of 1,15,000+ seed concentrated fraternity.

Exclusive videos were made for each team with the GPL jingle and circulated all throughout.

A week before GPL commenced, teams started their practice sessions.

Draws were arranged by the organizing team and tournament schedule was fixed.

Finally, the GPL season – 4 begun. We had 3 sponsors who supported us in making this event a huge success.

Apart from this, Dinshaws was our Ice cream partner – they quenched the cravings of ice creams with their premium flavors every day to everyone present on the ground.

The entire ground was dedicated to branding our sponsors and partners. We put up close to 95 banners, 2 background walls, 1 backdrop, 4 floodlight spaces, 130 flags promoting their business. Infact, we had a special theme designed entry at the gate for GPL.

Covid protocols were taken care of in the grounds. Sanitizers and masks were supplied. Social distancing was maintained. Teams were given separate duck outs and were sanitized regularly.

We had an in-house DJ set up which ensured to motivate the teams with cheering sounds and GPL jingles in every over.

A comic commentator, Mr. Kulbushan Singh – filled with humor, who engaged every single person in the ground in his conversation served at the GPL grounds.

Teams were welcomed to invite their friends and family come over to the ground and watch the match. For those who couldn’t make it to the grounds – we arranged live streaming facility of every match available at one link on Gubba’s Youtube page. On an average, we had 1500 people watch the match live and 350 people come down to the ground and watch the matches in person.

Being Hyderabadi’s and carrying forward Gubba’s tradition – one area of expressing our love for the guests was food. We ensured to deliver lip smacking, 15-18 varieties of food every day. Menu was specially curated by the MD of Gubba Cold Storage, Mr. Gubba Nagendar Rao. Apart from breakfast, lunch and hitea everyday – we ensured our crowd and players gets live dosa, protein drink, peanut butter-bread, bananas, coffee/tea, cookies all throughout the day!

GPL – 4 started on 30-Nov-2021, it was a bright Tuesday. There were 3 matches planned each day.

1^st match of GPL -4 Day 1 commenced from 9am-11:00am between Nunhems  VS BioSeeds

Nunhems won the match by 8 wickets!

2^nd match of GPL -4 Day 1 commenced from 11:30am-1pm between Ankur seeds VS JK seeds

Ankur Seeds won the match by 28 runs!

3^rd match of GPL -4 Day 1 commenced from 2:30pm-5pm between Tata Rallis VS Kaveri Seeds

Kaveri Seeds won the match by 141 runs!

1^st Match of GPL day – 2 commenced from 9:00am-11am between VNR seeds VS Ganga Kaveri

VNR seeds won the match by 9 wickets!

2^nd Match of GPL day – 2 commenced from 11:30am to 2pm between Bayer VS Mahindra Agri

Mahindra Agri won the match by 4 wickets.

3^rd Match of GPL day – 2 commenced from 2:30pm to 5pm between HM Clause VS Seedworks

HM Clause won the match by 35 runs!

1^st Match of GPL day – 3 commenced from 9:00am-11:00am between Gubba VS Advanta

Gubba won the match by 7 wickets!

2^nd Match of GPL day – 3 commenced from 11:30am-1pm between Syngenta VS Hytech

Syngenta won the match by 56 runs!

3^rd Match of GPL day – 3 commenced from 2:30pm-5pm between Ankur VS Nunhems

It was the first quarter finals of GPL -4.

Ankur won the first quarter finals by 6 wickets!

1^st Match of GPL day – 4 commenced from 9am-11am between VNR seeds VS Kaveri

Kaveri won the quarter finals of GPL-4 by 5 wickets.

2^nd Match of GPL day – 4 commenced from 11:30-1pm between Mahindra Agri VS HM Clause

HM Clause won the quarter finals by 7 runs!

3^rd Match of GPL day – 4 commenced from 2:30-5pm between Gubba VS Syngenta

Gubba won the quarter finals by 3 wickets!

Day 5 of GPL – We had the semi-finals.

1^st Semi-Final of GPL-4 commenced at 9:00am-11am between Ankur and Kaveri seeds.

Kaveri won the semi-finals and got into the finals – Kaveri won the match by 7 wickets.

^2nd Semi-Final of GPL-4 commenced at 11:30am-1pm between Gubba VS HM Clause.

HM Clause won the semi-finals by 74 runs!

Kaveri and HM Clause got into the finals of GPL-4.

Before finals, we decided to surprise our sponsors and held a friendly cricket match between their teams.

Integrated Gas Technologies VS Mohammad Tajjuddin Constructions played the surprise sponsor match. 

IGT invited their entire corporate office – a team of 30 to witness the match.

IGT won the match by 141 runs and their team celebrated the win by dancing in the ground to the GPL jingle.

For the first time in the history of GPL – We had the finals organized in the night under the flood lights. Invitations were open to all the seed teams that participated along with their friends and families. We hosted close to 2,000 people on the night of GPL finals.
