The company plans to introduce new seeds of seedless cucumber, cabbage, tomato and fresh chilli by end of 2027
Manjunath SN, a farmer in Yelduru in Kolar district of Karnataka, holds his harvested ‘Sindhu” beetroot variety developed by Crystal Crop Protection Ltd. He sends the beetroot to Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market.
New Delhi-based Crystal Crop Protection Ltd (CCPL) will launch seeds of a new sweet corn variety next month, while introducing new varietal seeds of seedless cucumber, cabbage, tomato and a long fresh chilli before the end of 2027.
“The sweet corn variety – Madhuram – can be harvested early and will be sweeter,” said Anurag Bajpai, business head, VF (vegetables and flowers) seeds of CCPL. The seeds division is headquartered in Bengaluru.
Most of the seeds that the company plans to introduce are early-harvest varieties, with a focus on disease tolerance and climate resistance, he said.
