Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IP Alliance) is investing $15 million to set up a dedicated quality institute in Ahmedabad. This will be focused on quality parametres roping in the state and Central government, drug regulatory authorities.

Making this announcement at the IPC 2025 at a panel discussion on Viksit Bharat 2025, Dr Sudarshan Jain, general secretary, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance said quality is key for pharma research, manufacture and marketing.

The move comes amid a growing emphasis on good manufacturing practices and robust drug quality standards, alongside an increase in inspections by regulatory bodies. Moreover, rising demand for drugs and biosimilars, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and the emergence of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies have made education and skill development increasingly important.

Dr Jain was replying to the panel moderator query on recent quality lapses which have dented Brand India image when he shared the development about the Quality Institute at Ahmedabad. “This will enable adherence to stricter quality standards voluntarily by companies to seal and reinforce trust which was much needed,” he said.

To this end the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance concentrates on initiatives like summits, R&D support, and digital health, working towards making India a global pharma powerhouse, with significant member contributions to quality and innovation. It also organizes Global Pharmaceutical Quality Summits and pushes for industry-wide excellence.
