In a move aimed at exploring the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in strengthening pharmaceutical quality standards and drug safety monitoring, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) will host a session on AI-driven pharmacopoeia standards and pharmacovigilance on August 20, 2026 at the IPC campus in Ghaziabad.
IPC has invited applications for the session themed “AI-Powered Pharmacopoeia Standards Development & Pharmacovigilance Practices”. Interested participants are required to register before the deadline of August 19, 2026. The session seeks to bring together regulators, industry professionals, researchers, academicians, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and information technology experts to deliberate on the use of AI in pharmacopoeial standards development, regulatory processes, and pharmacovigilance practices.
According to an IPC official, “The brainstorming session is being organized as part of the IPC’s efforts to facilitate discussions on the evolving application of artificial intelligence across the pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem. With AI increasingly finding applications in drug development, quality assurance, regulatory science, and adverse drug reaction monitoring, the event aims to create a common platform where stakeholders can exchange ideas, identify challenges, and explore practical approaches for integrating emerging technologies into regulatory and scientific processes.”
The one-day deliberations will focus on understanding how AI-driven tools can support the development of pharmacopoeial standards while improving pharmacovigilance practices and regulatory decision-making. The discussions are expected to examine opportunities for enhancing the quality, safety, and consistency of pharmaceutical products through technology-enabled solutions.
The Commission stated that the session will bring together experts from diverse domains, including the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory authorities, Contract Research Organizations, academic institutions, and information technology sectors. The objective is to encourage interdisciplinary discussions on innovative AI-based solutions that can contribute to strengthening pharmaceutical standards, improving drug safety surveillance, and supporting regulatory excellence.
The event will be conducted in physical mode at the Dr. Nitya Anand Auditorium located within the IPC premises in Ghaziabad. Participation is open to professionals and stakeholders interested in the application of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare regulation.
According to experts, “The initiative reflects the increasing attention being given by regulatory and scientific institutions to the use of digital technologies in healthcare. Artificial intelligence is being explored globally for applications ranging from data analysis and risk assessment to pharmacovigilance signal detection, quality management, and scientific documentation. By convening experts from multiple disciplines, IPC aims to facilitate knowledge sharing on the responsible and effective use of AI in pharmaceutical standards development and drug safety systems.”
